Following your breast explant surgery, there will be a necessary recovery period to allow your body to heal. During your recovery, there will be some limitations to the things you can do and a general amount of time you will need to refrain from doing them. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Rai will go over what to expect during your recovery and provide you with post-operative instructions. Here are a few of the things you can expect during your recovery.

Breast Explant Recovery

Following your breast explant surgery, you can expect to experience some swelling, soreness, and bruising around the breasts. These issues will subside over the course of your recovery. A bandage will need to be worn during the recovery process to manage swelling and provide support. After around two days you will be abv to remove the bandage and shower normally.

Any pain or discomfort you may experience can be managed with medication. You will not be able to do any strenuous activity or heavy lifting for several weeks following your breast explant surgery. Drains may be placed in the area to help easily remove any fluid that builds up. These drains will be removed during a follow-up visit schedule around three to five days after your procedure.
