Breast Explant Dallas

Breast Explant ProcedureBreast explant with capsulectomy involves removing the implant with its surrounding capsule. This is an en bloc removal. The procedure is very tedious and requires skill and experience to perform correctly. The implant and capsule are freed off the ribs and muscle and removed from the body. If there is any other foreign bodies (sutures) or any evidence of a silicone rupture or leak this is thoroughly cleaned and washed before the incision is closed. If the pectoralis muscle needs to be repaired it is done at the time of the procedure.

Ideal Candidates:

Patients who no longer desire to have their implants and those that wish to remove all the capsule from their breast pocket.

There are several reasons why an ideal candidate might consider having breast explant surgery. Some of the top reasons include:

  • Implant Exchange: Some women may want to replace their current breast implants with larger or smaller ones, or change the material or shape of their implants.
  • Capsular Contracture: The body’s natural response to a foreign object, such as breast implants, is to produce fibrous scar tissue around the implant. In some cases, this capsule hardens and tightens, causing pain and aesthetic distortion.
  • Shifting or Rotating of Implants: Implants can move or rotate over time, which may cause discomfort or change the appearance of the breasts. A breast explant in Dallas can provide relief and prevent further complications.
  • Breast Implant Illness (BII): Some women may experience health issues related to their breast implants, such as fatigue, joint pain, muscle pain, anxiety, depression, brain fog, memory loss, trouble concentrating, dry eyes, hair loss, and skin rashes.
  • Infection: In rare cases, breast implants can become infected, requiring removal.
  • Rupture: Breast implants can rupture, either due to normal wear and tear or as a result of trauma.
  • Detection of Breast Cancer: Breast implants can sometimes interfere with mammograms, making it more difficult to detect breast cancer. A breast implant removal in Dallas can simplify breast cancer screenings and improve their accuracy.
  • Improved Self-image: Some women may decide to remove their implants because they are dissatisfied with the appearance of their breasts. Removing the implants can help them feel more comfortable and confident in their own bodies.
  • Improved physical activity: Some women may find that their breast implants limit their ability to participate in certain physical activities, such as running or certain types of exercise. To improve physical activity and overall mobility, breast explant surgery may be recommended.
  • Medical necessity: The American Society of Plastic Surgeons recommends that breast implants be removed or replaced every 10 or 15 years.
